Transformation induced plasticity steel: Ultra-high strength steel with increased plasticity caused by the gradual martensite transformation process in the steel structure, referred to as TRIP steel.
When austenitic steel with this structure is subsequently used at room temperature, the austenite in the crack front area will change to martensite due to the stress concentration present at the crack front. Because the formation of martensite requires a large amount of energy, which makes it difficult for cracks to propagate, this will not only increase the strength of the steel (martensite strengthening) but also increase the fracture toughness KIC (consuming the energy required for crack propagation).This steel is the ultra-high-strength steel with the best fracture toughness available.
